Introducing the Forest Friends
The characters in Wonderfully Made World were created to reflect the real thoughts, feelings, and behaviours of neurodiverse children—especially those with ADHD.
They weren’t designed to be perfect. They were designed to be relatable.
Each character is inspired by lived experience: moments of distraction, bursts of creativity, deep emotional sensitivity, and the joy of seeing the world differently.
Some traits come from Mel’s own journey with ADHD. Others are drawn from children she’s worked with, parented, or simply observed with empathy and admiration.
These characters represent the many ways children navigate focus, emotions, relationships, and self-expression.
They teach kids that their challenges don’t define them—and that their strengths are worth celebrating.
Across the books, the Forest Friends show up as guides, companions, and reflections of the reader. They help children feel less alone, more understood, and more confident in who they are.
Wonderfully Made World isn’t just a place it’s a community of characters who grow with the child, offering comfort, insight, and a sense of belonging.
